DESCRIPTION

DescriptionThe Mill was erected on the Western side of the hill behind the Lead Smelter. Urquhart Shaft, No 1 Ore Shaft, raised the ore from underground and then fed that ore into large steel bins on the top of the hill. These bins fed the primary crushers, the highest building on the western side of the hill. This crushed ore was then fed into 5ft. 6in. cone/disc crushers to a smaller size. This was called fine ore and was then fed into the large fine Ore Bins next to the Mill. From here the fine ore was fed into the grinding mills to the West of these bins. This fine ground slurry was then fed into the concentrator part of the building where the separate minerals were extracted from the slurry and this concentrate was pumped to through a tunnel in the hill to the Lead Smelter.
