DESCRIPTION

DescriptionNo 1 Ore Shaft, Urquhart Shaft, raised the ore, called ROM (Run of Mine) ore, from underground and then fed that ore into large steel bins on the top of the hill which feed the jaw crusher, often called the primary crusher. This had a moving jaw that crushed the rock against a fixed jaw to a smaller size. There were two for the ROM ore, each driven by GEC 75 HP 3300V 960 rpm motor.
