DescriptionRing drilling using a bar and arm. The drill is setup on the bar and the bar stays in the fixed horizontal poistion. The drill and guide are fixed to the bar with a clamp, this maintains the drill direction. The driller's assistant is adding another drill extension. Compressed air fed to the drill via a "turtle", a tank with lubricating oil which is added to the air for lubricating the drill. This can be seen with the drillers left foot standing near it. When the hole is drill the clamp on the bar is loosened and the drill is rotated to the next hole of the ring.DateCirca 1956PhotographerPeter LaurisenRightsCC: BY-NC-SACollectionPeter LaurisenSubjectMining EquipmentMiningMining SitesMining Personnel
